Dear
Joe, I am what you call a dumb punter who has been burning money at the tracks
for years now. Recently I happen to read most of your articles and I would like
to tell you how it helped me last week. The race was a million dollar cup race
which was being run in Singapore which was beamed to us through satelite. The
horse which I intended to play was a three year old by Thunder Gulch who had
won like a champion 2 weeks ago in top class company. He was a 5 time winner
out of 6 starts and I was ready to bet some money on him. The race commentators
were already declaring him a winner in the parade ring. What i saw was a
different horse altogether from the horse that won 2 weeks ago. There was
hardly any shine in his coat, his ears were flickering and the basically he
appeared to be nervous. After much delibration i decided from all that i had
mustered from your articles, I was not going to play him. He finished last in
the field and although i did not bet any other horse in the race i felt like i
was the king at the turf club, for once i had actually learnt to study the body
langguage of a horse. I feel like a born again punter and Mr. Joe Takach if i
ever met you in person i would salute you. Now I really would like to purchase
your Beat The Beam video and i just wonder the best way to go about it. Thank
you the King and hoping to hear from you soon.

Another
lil true story you may enjoy. I was in Bakersfield for the simulcasting one
night watching the harness from Los Alamitos. The #1 horse was 1-2 and looked
on paper like he was a standout. Watching the post and the warm ups (as much as
i could) I watched the #1 STANDING and COCKING his head as if he were pissed
off!! I instantly knew this horse was NOT going to run his best race , in fact
far from it. I even commented to some people sitting near me that the #1 is not
going to win this race. One of them said why would you think that? I calmly
mentioned to him what the horse was doing and that the horse absolutely without
a doubt did NOT want to be here tonight. The person told me " i used to be
a trainer and that doesnt mean a thing". Iam serious as a heart attack
thats what the man told me. I watched the race and not only did the #1 not win
but he didnt even finish in the money!!!!! I guess the key word is USED to be a
trainer!!!! After he cant even recognize when a horse is pissed i wouldnt think
too many people would trust him with horses and he would go broke buying or
leasing his own! True story. The reason this entered my mind was i was playing
hoosier harness tonight and out of the 8 races i played i won 5 with a second
by an inch and a horse that finished 4th with a horrible trip. Could have
easily been 7 of 8. I did it all with NO PP'S just visual. Honest to god. the
prices were 8.80, 14.40, 3.00, 8.80 and 5.40. Just more testament that visual
inspection of any horse is a neccesity. Good Luck to all. By the way Hombre
Rapido won a few sundays ago with blowout patches at Hollywood Park but to tell
you the truth in my opinion there wasnt anything better in the race and this
was a stakes race!!! so i skipped it completely.

After
recently freshening up by reading your articles and watching your video
repeatedly for a week, i decided to handicap by looking for the READY to WIN
horse. Yes this takes patience , i bet online so i have many races to look at
in a day. The first race i saw a horse i could bet was Churchill Downs Race #2
I took the #5 and was confident he would win by just looking at him, He won and
paid $16. Yup i nailed him at 7-1. My second big score of the day was at
Mountaineer Park Race #6 I told my buddy this first time starter out of
Pioneering was ready to rock n roll, he decided against a bet, i nailed him at
20-1 the horse paid $43.30 for the win. In fact the last 2 weeks since i have
studied your writings and video i have nailed 3 20-1 shots at 3 different
tracks!!! not to mention all the 5-1 and up. Patience is a virtue and there is
no need to bet every race. Online betting the horses is a great way to go. It's
funny but whenever i see a "ready to win" horse in the paddock and on
the track i get this smile and break out into a giggle. People just dont learn
that a horse is only what he is "Today" and not neccesarily what he
was yesterday. I was at Los Alamitos a few years back, in the paddock i saw a
horse that nearly left me in total laughter, the horse had this glow and was
absolutely perfect physically. Mentally the horse was totally interested in
running today he did everything right. The horse was never fractious, and when
the post parade ended he broke into a canter. This horse was very interested. I
told my brother in law there is the winner, of course that was met by his
response of "no way he is 25-1" To this day i cant understand why
people wont bet a horse at long odds. The favorite was 8-5 and of course thats
who my brother in law liked. I told him, sorry but if you bet that horse your
running for second so at least please put some money on the 7. The race went
off the 7 went wire to wire at 25-1 i collected the 54 x 20 and my brother in
law cashed zip. Some people just dont want to understand i guess. Keep up the
great work!!!!

Joe-
Great site, all this great information in one place, awesome. Never been to SA,
but will be there 2/7 and 2/8. Birthday present from my wife. Can't wait. I'm
sure if I look hard enough you might be in the paddock, that's where you can
find the winners. All the best, Terry Riggs
